Renewable Energies

The program on Renewable Energies is given through English by experts from the respective fields on which the contents are based. They have the required university training and certificates as well as having experience in companies that work in these areas related to Renewable Energies.

This program lasts for 4 weeks and is designed the following way: 100 lessons in areas related to Renewable Energies, 20 of which are site visits and 80 are lectures. These lectures take place over 4 days a week with one day reserved for site visits. These visits give the students the opportunity to see in practice what they hear about in class.

The course content is appropriate for students enrolled in the following fields: chemical, civil, electrical, material and mechanical engineering and the syllabus has been designed to be compatible with US accreditation criteria.

For those interested in refreshing their knowledge of Spanish Language and Culture or those interested in acquiring some knowledge of this language and culture there is the possibility of doing a Spanish language and culture class for two weeks before the start of the specific part of the course. This course consists of 20 lessons per week, for 2 weeks, of Spanish language and Culture.

Accommodation:

• Students:1: Shared room + half board (breakfast and dinner) from Monday to Friday. Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at weekends.2: Single room apartment accommodation, non-catering.
• Faculty Member: Self – catering apartment.
• The accommodation starts on the Sunday before the course start date and ends on the Saturday after the course finalized.

Cultural Activities:

• Tour of Vitoria-Gasteiz.
• Tapas tasting (the students will sample a variety of the micro-cuisine for which Vitoria-Gasteiz is famous.
• Visit to Casa Primicia in Laguardia. The oldest family owned winery still operating(600 years) located in Laguardia, a beautiful medieval town. With of course some wine tasting.
• Farewell dinner.

Activities related to the program:

• Visit to wave energy technology centre in Biscaya.
• Visit to wind farm.
• Visit to photovolteic farm.
• Other visit to be determined.

Full day excursions:

• Bilbao and visit to the Guggenheim Museum.
• Pamplona and a guided tour of the city and the running of the bulls circuit.
• To the South of France, Biarritz.
